It’s hard to believe we’re thinking about fall right now, but summer is quickly coming to a close and soon we’ll be bundled up in hats, scarves and gloves wishing it were still august. Before we get to that, we have to live in that transitional time between seasons. You know it…the time of year when you walk out of the house in the morning and it’s freezing. By the afternoon, it’s steaming hot and you’re wishing there were some layers under that sweater.

To help you out, I’ve put together a list of items I’m currently integrating into my wardrobe to prepare.

I make certain to have a lot of t-shirts and silk blouses on hand. They aren’t bulky and can easily be layered under light jackets, blazers and cardigans (I swear by J.Crew’s).

I also love a good pencil skirt. This classic piece can be worn through fall and into winter. I’m currently eying up a leather version (one of my favorite trends for Fall/Winter 2012 –more on these in the next few weeks).

I work in colors that are on trend for the season, too. In this case, I’ve picked up some ankle booties in deep blue (thank you Nordstrom Anniversary Sale) and a burgundy handbag.

Finally, I love a good scarf. They’re cozy and can be used to add a pop of color to any outfit.

So, what are you waiting for? Make your shopping list and get out there before the cold weather moves in!
