Montgomery County Police will step up drunk driving enforcement this weekend during St. Patrick Day celebrations, with extra patrols in areas with bars and sobriety checkpoints throughout the county.

In conjunction with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, MCP will specifically target impaired drivers as part of Checkpoint Strikeforce. Enforcement will begin on Friday and run through the early morning hours of Monday, according to a press release.

Police want to remind residents to make a plan for designating a sober driver or contacting a taxi before the end of the night.
